Fijian communities from across the Uniting Church gathered in Fremantle/Walyalup for the 2026 Uniting Church in Australia Fijian National Conference, celebrating faith, culture, fellowship and hope.
The Conference opened on Thursday evening with a Welcome to Country from Rev Mitchell Garlett of UAICC WA, followed by worship led by Rev William Lucas. Rev Dr Paul Goh, President-elect of the Uniting Church in Australia, shared the message, with the WA choir leading the gathering in song.
A special message from Uniting Church President Rev Charissa Suli, joining from Fiji, was also shared, while the gathering acknowledged the leadership of Fijian National Conference Chair Rev Viniana Ravetali.
On Friday, Rev David Jackson CSM, Moderator of the Uniting Church WA, led teaching on Biblical lessons from the Wilderness. Delegates also explored mission, climate change, pathways to ministry and the future of Fijian communities within the Church.
Dr Sureka Goringe, National Director of UnitingWorld, shared about international mission and the Church’s connections with partners across the region and around the world.
The day concludes with Sere ni Vanua and Meke, bringing the community together through traditional song and dance.
Across worship, teaching, conversation and culture, the Conference is celebrating the many gifts Fijian communities bring to the life and witness of the Uniting Church.
