The Assembly
The Assembly is the national council of the Uniting Church in Australia. Led by the President and General Secretary, the Assembly plays a leading role in promoting the Church's mission of making Christ's love manifest in the world.
Holding together the mission and ministry of the UCA at a national level, the Assembly seeks to resource and encourage the church in areas key to our identity - working for justice, transforming worship, resourcing an informed faith, intercultural ministry, intergenerational life, our national commitment to live out our covenant with First Peoples and our engagement with ecumenical and interfaith partners.
The Assembly holds formal responsibilities in matters of doctrine and worship, government and discipline, establishing standards of theological training and the admission of ministers from other Christian traditions.
Every three years, elected members of the Uniting Church come together in unity and fellowship for the triennial Assembly meeting. This gathering is a time of discernment, reflection and setting the direction of the church. Decisions made by the Assembly guide the Church's life and advocacy for the next three years. The 17th Assembly meets in July 2024.
The Assembly Standing Committee is elected at the Triennial Assembly meeting. The Committee has the charge of providing governance to the Church during the Triennium.

Agencies of the Assembly
Three national agencies sit within the work of the Assembly, living out the church's mission to seek God's abundant life for all people, in communities across Australia, specifically in rural and remote areas, and with our church partners overseas. Frontier Services is our rural and remote agency, working across Australia providing vital connection and a lifeline of support to people in the bush. UnitingWorld is our international aid agency partnering with the global church to address poverty, injustice and violence. UnitingCare Australia is our national advocate for social justice, working to give a voice to the most vulnerable in our community informed, by the UnitingCare's extensive network of community service providers.
