Melissa Neumann offers some tips to help families focus on Jesus at Christmas and a prayer.
Looking to encourage families to engage with Christmas without feeling overwhelmed? Here are three simple tips for families to find what fits for them at Christmas. Written by our friends at Bible Reading Fellowship (BRF) in the UK.
- Don't try to do everything
- Start with you
- Be led by your kids' interests
The following prayer is based on the three tips and you are invited to pray this prayer for families in your congregation and/or wider context.
God of wisdom, In the midst of Christmas preparations, may your wisdom be gifted to families in choosing the important and intentional and not attempting everything.
God of peace, as the year draws to a close with increasing tiredness and stress, may your peace be gifted to parents and caregivers as they pause to connect with You.
God of joy, may families use their interests, such as conversations, cooking, reading or seeking justice, to intentionally celebrate your gift of love in Jesus and may their homes be filled with your joy.
May the love shared within and across families, households and congregations reflect God’s great love for all people. Amen.
