Rev Mark Kickett steps down as UAICC Chairperson
After a long affiliation with the UAICC, Rev Mark Kickett farewelled Congress earlier this month
March 4, 2026
Rev Mark Kickett has stepped down as National Chairperson of the Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress (UAICC), concluding his service on 1 March.
Rev Kickett served in the role since December 2023, following three years as Interim Chair. A proud Noongar man, he has walked closely with Congress and the Uniting Church in Australia for many years, offering wisdom, pastoral care and steadfast commitment.
Throughout his tenure, Rev Kickett has been a passionate advocate for truth-telling, reconciliation and healing. He has fostered strong relationships across regional councils of Congress, supported communities with compassion, and championed the sharing of the gospel.
In 2023, he guided UAICC’s leadership of the Church’s engagement in the Voice referendum, and worked closely with the wider Church in its advocacy in response to Black Lives Matter, racism and Aboriginal deaths in custody.
Deeply committed to raising up the next generation, Rev Kickett continues to encourage and empower young Aboriginal leaders to grow in faith and confidence.
Rev Kickett’s contribution to Congress has been significant and deeply valued. The Uniting Church Assembly gives thanks for Mark’s service and upholds him in prayer in his future endeavours.
