Call for Expressions of Interest
Assembly Pride Circle
The Assembly Standing Committee has resolved to form an Assembly Circle of Interest for LGBTIQA+ members and allies to work together to help the church live out this call of Christ to love and welcome all with dignity and respect.
The Uniting Church believes that every person is precious and entitled to live with dignity because they are God’s children, and that each person’s life and rights need to be protected or the human community, and its reflection of God, is diminished.
This decision arises out of our commitment to be a loving, safe and inclusive Church and seeks to respond to the long history of struggle and marginalisation of LGBTIQA+ members within the UCA. It is guided by resolutions of the Uniting Church triennial Assembly meetings.
The purpose of the Pride Circle will be to pursue dignity and justice for LGBTIQA+ members of the UCA, deepen the Church's understanding of the queer community and facilitate relationship-building. Its full purpose can be found in the Terms of Reference.
Expressions of Interest are now invited for the role of Circle Advocate and for members of the Panel. EoIs close on Monday 9 June.
