Since the Uniting Church in Australia (UCA) was formed in 1977, we have been following Jesus, growing disciples, working for justice and serving communities in these lands now called Australia.
As the national council of the Uniting Church, the Assembly has a leading role in promoting the Church’s mission, both inside the Church and within the wider community.
Speaking into the public space, the Assembly ensures the UCA has a national voice in social and national affairs, witnessing to our Gospel call to seek the flourishing of all people and all creation.
Within the Church, the Assembly plays a leading role in bringing together the mission and ministry of the UCA at a national level. We seek to model, encourage and communicate back to the Church our national identity, highlighting and encouraging life-giving faith, discipleship and innovation.
You can now help ensure the national work of the Uniting Church is well resourced into the future by making a donation to support the Assembly.
Your donation will ensure the Assembly can continue to promote the Church’s mission and resource the wider Church, in the areas of our life that are part of our DNA – working for justice, transforming worship, resourcing an informed faith, intercultural ministry, intergenerational life, our national commitment to live out our covenant with First Peoples and engagement with ecumenical and interfaith partners.
Below are just some examples of how the Assembly seeks to live out our call as followers of Jesus, both within and beyond the Church.
- Covenanting: At the heart of the Uniting Church is a commitment to a relationship with the Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress (UAICC) and with the First Peoples of this land. We walk together as all First and Second Peoples, seeking to build a church and nation of justice and reconciliation.
- Humans of the Uniting Church: In a new series in our communications, we invite people to share in their own words about faith, community, the Uniting Church and how we can pray for them. It is a snapshot of the faithful people who make the UCA a living, breathing community of disciples following Jesus. This is an example of our commitment to reflect our life and identity through story telling.
- Our Vision for a Just Australia: this vision statement articulates our vision for a more welcoming, just and compassionate Australia across seven foundations.
- Transforming Worship: More than 1200 people are part of the Facebook Group, sharing ideas, readings, photos of worship settings and liturgies every day. Also check out our other Circles of Interest.
We seek to model, encourage and communicate back to the Church our national identity, highlighting and encouraging life-giving faith, discipleship and innovation.
