Over the next five weeks National Update will feature a series of articles that will lead into the World Council of Churches ‘World Week for Peace in Palestine and Israel’ (WWPPI). This year WWPPI is being held over the week of 15-22 September with the theme being “Faith, Hope and Love in Action: Towards Justice in Israel Palestine.”
This series has been prepared by the Palestine Israel Ecumenical Network (PIEN), a network of Australian Christians and supporters who seek lasting peace for the people of Palestine and Israel. The mission of PIEN is to equip and inform Australian churches, inspired by Christ’s vision for universal reconciliation.
PIEN committee members will reflect on this year’s theme by sharing insights and stories from their personal experience of visiting and living in the occupied Palestinian Territories and close connections to the Palestinian Christian community. Congregations and individuals are invited to share in this week of intentional focus on Palestine and Israel. The WCC will provide liturgical material along with sharing stories about Palestinian Christians and their efforts to build a better future. These resources will be available to download during the series.
The UCA has a long-standing commitment to peace with justice in Israel and Palestine, and offer this series and opportunity for you to be further informed and engaged. Find them below on this page each week.
