TOWARDS ZERO
Connecting Faith and Action
Explore how you and your faith community can shape a better future for our planet.
The Assembly presents the video series Towards Zero produced by former Assembly Theologian-in-residence Rev Dr Ji Zhang.
In response to the climate crisis, the Uniting Church Assembly has committed to reducing its carbon emissions to net-zero by 2040 under our Climate Action Plan.
Reflecting on his own personal journey, and drawing on his experience in the renewable energy industry, Rev Dr Zhang shows us the real possibility of becoming carbon neutral as a household, a congregation, a network of agencies and a whole church.
In a series of videos, we bring together our theology along with practical actions, and importantly, tools to measure our impact. We invite you to watch, share and start conversations. Together we can make a difference.
"When I first arrived in Australia over thirty years ago, my first impression was of the bright sunshine and the deep blue sky. In this land I have experienced a transformation of life, I became Christian, studied theology, and was ordained as a minister in the Uniting Church. My story of transformation includes 12 years working in the renewable energy industry.
As I reflect upon this journey, I have come to a conclusion: Unless Planet Earth is saved, my personal salvation is meaningless."
