June 14, 2023
This Sunday 18 June begins Refugee Week – an opportunity to honour the strength and resilience of refugees and celebrate the many gifts and rich contributions they make to our communities.
This year’s theme is Finding Freedom – an opportunity to reflect on what it means to be truly free, and recognising that settling into a new environment after experiencing the perils of a refugee’s journey can also provide the opportunity to live, to love and to dream."
The Uniting Church in Australia has a long history of advocacy for refugees and asylum seekers and continues to call for justice and compassion for people seeking asylum.
Refugee Week runs from 18-25 June. Below are some resources you might like to use to mark Refugee Week in your community.
"Every day millions of people across the world embark on dangerous journeys for the sole purpose of finding safety and freedom."
