Applications are now open for the Assembly's next General Secretary. We are seeking a person who is passionate about the national life of the Uniting Church. The person will be a member of the Uniting Church who has skills and experience in leading change, governance and staff management. They will need to be able to reflect theologically on the work of the Assembly and give general leadership to the Church. The next General Secretary will be committed to working with the Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress, skilled at working with diverse groups of people, be collaborative and resilient.
The Assembly is the national council of the Uniting Church and has responsibility in matters of doctrine, worship, government and discipline. It sets national policy and promotes the Church's mission in the world. The Assembly also establishes standards of theological training and reception of ministers from other communions and pursues the goal of the worldwide union of all Christ's church. The General Secretary is the executive officer of the Assembly. The position will be appointed by the 17th Assembly in July 2024.
