The Uniting Church in Australia’s bush ministry agency, Frontier Services, is seeking a National Director to lead its mission supporting remote and regional communities across Australia. Working alongside Indigenous communities, isolated properties, mining communities and regional centres, Frontier Services delivers its mission through Bush Chaplains, volunteers and trusted partners, responding with compassion, presence and practical support where it is needed most.
About the Role
Frontier Services is seeking a values-driven and experienced National Director to lead its national mission and organisation into its next chapter.
Reporting to the Frontier Services Board and working closely with Assembly leadership, the National Director will provide strategic, organisational and mission leadership across the organisation. This role carries responsibility for national fundraising performance, stakeholder engagement, team leadership and organisational stewardship, while enhancing Frontier Services’ profile and impact across Australia.
This is a rare senior leadership opportunity for an executive who is motivated by service, purpose and national impact, and who is confident leading within a faith-based and complex stakeholder environment.
Key Responsibilities
Mission & Strategic Leadership: Provide clear, values-aligned leadership and deliver Frontier Services’ strategy in partnership with the Board and Assembly leadership.
Fundraising & Partnerships: Lead national fundraising, philanthropy and partnership strategies to ensure sustainable income and long-term mission impact.
People & Culture: Lead, develop and inspire a high-performing, values-led national team and volunteer network.
Governance & Stakeholder Engagement: Work effectively with the Board, Church leadership, donors, partners and community stakeholders across diverse contexts.
Brand & Representation: Represent Frontier Services nationally with credibility, warmth and conviction, strengthening its reputation and engagement across the Church and wider community.
Who We're Looking For
You are a senior executive with:
- Demonstrated leadership experience in fundraising-dependent or mission-led organisations
- Strong people leadership and organisational management capability
- A strategic mindset with the ability to execute through complexity
- Confidence working with boards and diverse, values-driven stakeholders
- An understanding of, or deep respect for, faith-based mission and church contexts
- A personal commitment to service, justice and compassionate leadership
Experience in not-for-profit, faith-based, community, Indigenous, regional or remote service environments will be highly regarded.
