Day of Mourning 2023
Photos from across the Uniting Church
January 25, 2023
Thank you to the many Uniting Church communities who joined to mark the Day of Mourning on the Sunday before 26 January.
The observance of a Day of Mourning arises from a request from the Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress (UAICC) which was endorsed by the 15th Assembly in 2018. It is an expression of the Uniting Church’s commitment to justice and truth-telling which is required of us by the Covenant we have made and reaffirmed with UAICC.
“May the blessing of God, ancient of days, Jesus, embodiment of God’s justice, and the Spirit, animator of Creation, be on us and remain with us. Amen. (from the 2023 Day of Mourning Worship Resource)
