The next President-elect of the Uniting Church in Australia will be elected at the 17th Assembly in July 2024

Nominations are now open for the next President-elect of the Uniting Church in Australia, to be elected at the 17th Assembly meeting in July 2024.
The President-elect will be installed as President at the 18th Assembly and serve from 2027-2030. A key role in the life of the Church, the President gives spiritual leadership, encouragement and counsel to the Church and represents the Church when required.
Nominations for President-elect can be made by:
- a Synod,
- a Presbytery,
- a regional or national committee of the UAICC, or
- two members of the 17th Assembly.
The President gives spiritual leadership, encouragement and counsel to the Church and is the Church’s representative.

The Assembly Standing Committee (ASC) has identified a range of issues, opportunities and challenges for the future to be considered by nominees for President-elect, including:
- Living out the covenant and building relationships with First Peoples.
- Being clear about our story as the UCA: our mission and purpose in witness and advocacy in Australia.
- Strengthening discipleship and witness to our faith within the UCA.
- Seeking innovative and transformative ways of engaging in God’s ministry and mission.
- Encouraging and engaging youth and young adults in their discipleship and leadership.
- Sustainability in governance and leadership.
- Strengthening our voice in advocacy on justice issues.
- Developing leadership capacity for the changing dynamics of the Church.
- Continuing the implementation of 17th Assembly resolutions regarding the Act2 Project.
- Making the Church a safe place, with a culture of respect.

The deadline for nominations for President-elect has been extended to 26 April.
Nominees will provide a written application addressing the issues for the future of the Uniting Church identified by the ASC. Nominees who proceed to an election at the 17th Assembly will address the meeting by pre-recorded video.
