Liturgy at the time of Dying

For those who are physically separated from the dying

In response to COVID-19, the Transforming Worship Circle has created a liturgy resource for those who are physically separated from their loved one at the time of death due to the need for isolation and physical distancing.

Such a liturgy may take place with family gathered at the window outside the bedside or out the front of the care facility or hospital, or in another location if that is not possible. This liturgy can also take place online (via Zoom) with family members ‘virtually’ present.

The document also includes Practical Steps for a minister or chaplain providing pastoral care for a person affected by COVID-19 in a hospital or care setting on the safety precautions needed.
