By Rob Floyd, Assembly Associate General Secretary
Over the last few years, one key strategic direction for the Assembly has been Intercultural Church - learn from and enable diverse cultural groups within the church to flourish together.
A key focus of our work has been to encourage conversation and deeper exploration of how can we as the Uniting Church become a truly intercultural church, living out our faith together as increasingly diverse communities.
An Intercultural Church calls on all members, especially those of the dominant culture, to be prepared to live and act interculturally. It means bringing people of different cultures together to learn from one another, giving equal value and power to each culture and partnering in mission and ministry.
Assembly staff have shared some of the stories of our intercultural church and also developed some resources to assist us to live out our identity as an intercultural church.
I am delighted to see these resources have now been brought together into one place, our Living as an Intercultural Church website.
I commend it to you and encourage people from across our church to share resources you have developed that might be added.
