Features of our new digital home for UCA resources

Last month saw the successful launch of uHub – our refreshed living library of Uniting Church resources.
Over the coming weeks, we’ll be highlighting various features of this content-rich site, calling attention to the vast array of resources, both old and new, that exist to support and encourage the ongoing mission of the Church.
This week we feature the relationship between the Assembly’s uHub and the Camden Theological Library's Illuminate site.
uHub, formerly known as Illuminate, was launched in 2020, building on the exceptional and ongoing work of Camden Illuminate. This initiative served as a model for effectively archiving and presenting resources for the Uniting Church. Both platforms use a library database, resources are stored in perpetuity in a way that can be easily searched and maintained.
Through the dedicated work of Moira Bryant (Camden Librarian) and Christine Gordon (Assembly Archivist), Camden Illuminate is “a repository which preserves (the UCA) heritage”. It is a thoughtful collation of documents and resources that records “the history of our churches, treasured memories of local faith communities and projects undertaken, and the decision-making of Assemblies and Synods, holding in trust the treasures of faith and of the Church (as) a gift for future generations”.
uHub and Illuminate will continue to work together complementing each other, with uHub focusing on the resources (both new and older) that are helpful and necessary for use in our contemporary context, and Illuminate focusing on resources of a more historical and archival nature.
We invite you to take time to look around both sites to become aware of the breadth of faith, mission, discipleship, community and calling that the Uniting Church’s journey has been for almost 50 years and beyond prior to Union. If there are specific documents or historical information that you cannot find, please don’t hesitate to reach out for more information to the Assembly Resourcing Unit or Camden Theological Library Illuminate.
