Tomorrow 23 May the Assembly will farewell Raúl Sugunananthan from his role as Assembly Policy and Advocacy Officer.
The Assembly was excited by the possibilities when Raúl joined the Assembly Resourcing Unit and over the past ten months it has been enriched by Raúl's skilled advocacy and community organising and by his passion for God's justice.

Raúl came to the Assembly team having spent two years as a member of the Assembly Standing Committee. With a good understanding of the work of the Assembly he was able to ‘hit the ground running’.
Raúl has been instrumental in the Assembly's advocacy work, including our campaign for a Voice to Parliament, a just peace in the Holy Land, the Gaza Ceasefire Pilgrimage, and as the Assembly’s representative on the Australian Churches Refugee Taskforce and the Assembly's Net Zero Steering Group.
In recent months he has been working with leaders in the Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress on resources for the 30th Anniversary of the Covenant in July.
Assembly General Secretary (Interim) Rev Lindsay Cullen said that Raúl will be greatly missed by the Assembly Resourcing Unit.
"We are grateful for the work he has done with the team and we send him with our thanks and every blessing as he moves on to a new role with the Sydney Alliance.
Raul is a member of Leichhardt Uniting Church and we know that the Uniting Church will continue to benefit from his many gifts.”
