Rev Dr Solmon Zwana of the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe was inducted by the Uniting Church in Australia on 22 April 2022 at Liverpool Uniting Church. The ceremony was facilitated by the Parramatta Nepean Presbytery and attended by members of the Zimbabwean Methodist Faith Community and by UnitingWorld National Director Dr Sureka Goringe.
The service inducted Rev Solmon into the role of National Chaplain to all Zimbabwean Methodist Faith Communities around Australia. The role will work closely with the Uniting Church in order to connect all Zimbabwean Methodists in Australia into the life and ministry of the Uniting Church.
This remarkable outcome came to fruition after many years of discussions and negotiations to call a minister from Zimbabwe to come to Australia. The Zimbabwean Methodist Community in Australia would like to sincerely thank Uniting Church Assembly, Parramatta Nepean Presbytery, the Synod of NSW/ACT, Uniting World, and the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe for working together and supporting this wonderful initiative.
Rev Solmon will be in Australia for two years during which he will work with all Methodist Faith Communities in places like Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Toowoomba, Adelaide, Canberra, and all other small cities.
Praise be to God for a successful induction and a wonderful relationship between the Zimbabwean Methodist Faith Community and the Uniting Church.
The Assembly shared a greeting on this important occasion:
This service of induction of Rev Solomon Zwana to the role of National Chaplain for the Zimbabwean Methodist Fellowship of Australia is a most significant step in the ongoing relationship between the Uniting Church in Australia and the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe, and a particularly important recognition of the relationship we have here in Australia with the Zimbabwean Methodist Fellowship.
We express our thanks and congratulations to all the people and organisations who have worked so hard and faithfully to bring this to fruition.
Our prayers are with Rev Zwana, Mrs Wadzanayi Zwana and the Zimbabwean Methodist Fellowship as they embark on this new journey together and with the Uniting Church. Our prayers are also with the Synod of NSWACT and the Parramatta Nepean Presbytery as they support you in this ministry.
