Guided by Faith

Guided by Faith is not just a depiction of coexistence but a celebration of the deep, covenanting relationships that are formed when both Aboriginal and Christian values are embraced. It underscores the crucial role of Aboriginal perspectives in shaping a shared journey, with faith serving as the compass that ensures their path is one of mutual respect, understanding, and collective progress. The piece invites viewers to reflect on the past, honour the present and look forward to a future where both peoples walk together, guided by the enduring light of faith. This connection is the foundation upon which relationships are built and nurtured, highlighting the importance of Aboriginal culture in leading the way. The cross stands tall in the middle, signifying a beacon of hope and unity, guiding both communities as they walk together towards a harmonious future.
Guided by Faith emphasises the crucial role of Aboriginal culture and perspectives in leading this shared journey, ensuring that the path is one of mutual respect, understanding and collective progress. The piece invites viewers to reflect on the past, honour the present and envision a future where both peoples walk together, guided by the enduring light of faith and the rich cultural heritage of Aboriginal people.
Path of the Ancestors

This piece captures the essence of a journey through the timeless landscapes that have shaped the lives and spirits of Aboriginal people for millennia. The winding path symbolises the continuous journey of life, echoing the footsteps of the ancestors who walked these lands. The vibrant earth tones and intricate patterns pay homage to the deep connection between the land and its first inhabitants, honoring their traditions and wisdom.
A real strong sense of tying the ancient, both Aboriginal and Christian, with the journey ahead is felt throughout the piece. The artwork highlights the importance of Aboriginal and Christian communities walking together, fostering covenanting relationships built on mutual respect and shared values. To me, the upper section behind the black hills suggests a sun about to rise, or a flame burning. This imagery elicits a sense of anticipation and movement, symbolising the dawn of a new day and the enduring flame of faith and tradition. It evokes the promise of renewal and the forward momentum of a shared journey towards a brighter future.
