Conversations on the Voice
Now is the final opportunity to have meaningful conversations with the people around you
October 4, 2023
One of the most impactful things we can do to support the Voice campaign is have earnest, one-on-one conversations with people we know. Much of our country is still unsure about or disengaged from the process.
Call 3 people you know
Sometimes all it takes is a loved one reassuring them that the Voice is a practical and hopeful proposal that will create meaningful change. It has come First Nations people and is supported by a vast majority of them.
Can you call, text, or physically speak to 3 people in your friends or family about the Voice?
Here is a guide on how to talk about the proposal if that is helpful. https://reconciliationnsw.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Yes_Our-Voice-to-Parliament-booklet_single-pages_WEB.pdf
You can log you calls as part of the Yes23 action 'A Million Calls for Yes'.

Join the Uniting NSW.ACT Advocacy team for a calling party to phonebank for Yes!
You don’t need to know all the answers or try and debate ‘No’ voters. Phone banking is all about connecting with everyday undecided voters and helping them understand the importance of voting Yes!
It might sound scary, but once you get past your first call, you’ll realise it’s a breeze!
This is a virtual calling party run via Zoom, open to all Uniting Church members. The calling party will start at 6:00pm AEDT on Monday 9 October and run for approximately 2 hours.
We will train you in the first 10-15min of the session on how to use the phonebanking tool, and a suggested script to follow. We then mute our microphones and begin calling. After 40-50 minutes we conduct a short debrief before calling for another 40-50 minutes. Make sure you have a fully charged phone. It is highly recommended (but not essential) that you also have a laptop or computer with you (this can be the same device you use to join the Zoom call).
