As a congregational leader, especially in rural and regional settings, I know that it’s not always easy to help keep a congregation connected with the big picture of the Uniting Church. You want to inform people of what is going on in our Church around the country, and to engage people’s interest and prayers in other places and other congregations, but it’s not always easy to know where to start.

That’s why I’m so excited about the Assembly’s new Weekly Powerpoint project. Every week, as part of National Update, we will be sending out a small deck of PowerPoint slides which can be incorporated into what you use each Sunday. These slides will include a feature story which your congregation might be interested in, will highlight some resources that the National Church has to offer members and congregations, and perhaps most importantly, will suggest a few prayer points which could be incorporated into your Prayers of the People.
I highly commend this new resource to all congregations and leaders. If your minister or worship leader isn’t currently subscribed to National Update, why don’t you suggest it to them, so they can take advantage of the Weekly PowerPoints? And if you would like to see your own congregation or mission activities featured for others to pray about, then drop a line to our Communications Department and let us know the great things that are happening in your local congregation or faith community!
