The Assembly is pleased to announce that Andrew Johnson has been appointed to the role of Act2 Project Lead.
The Act2 Project is a whole of Church process led by the Assembly to consider how we can shape our life as the Uniting Church to support local communities of faith to thrive, build a cohesive national identity, and improve our governance structures and resourcing framework.
In this role Andrew will offer high-level leadership, advice and support to the Act2 project broadly, including the Steering Committee, share in representing the overall life and mission of the Uniting Church through the process, and work collaboratively across the national Church.
He will also oversee the newly-established Act2 Project Unit, put in place by the Assembly Standing Committee following the reconvened 16th Assembly meeting, to carry the Act2 project forward. It will have staffing in key areas including project management, research and communications.
Andrew is a member of the Uniting Church and has extensive experience in governance and leadership roles, including a combined 12 years on the Assembly Standing Committee, as Director of UnitingCare Kippax in Canberra, Chair of UnitingWorld’s International Programs Committee and project management for the Uniting Church in Queensland.
He is a recognised leader and trusted advisor in international development and community contexts, with key skills in strategy development, governance, government relations and public affairs. He has led significant strategy development initiatives across Australian and international NGOs, drawing on highly responsive and adaptable consultation processes, insights and modelling.
Andrew has held several high level strategy, management and consultancy roles. He is currently Principal Consultant with The Social Economy Group, and previously was a Director with World Vision Australia.
He will commence as Act2 Project Lead on 1 September 2022.
The Assembly is currently recruiting for two roles in the Act2 Project Unit: Project and Research Officer and Administration Officer.
