Uniting in Prayer is an invitation for the whole Church to slow down, listen deeply to God, and reconnect with one another across cultures, communities and distances.
From Pentecost Sunday on 24 May to the 49th Anniversary of the Uniting Church in Australia on 22 June, we are embarking on a shared season of national prayer.
Over these 30 days, 30 voices from across the Church will come together. Each day, a new voice will lead us in praying as one body around a single, unifying question: “What does it mean to be woven together in Christ's love across cultures and boundaries?”

Day 16 - God of selfless love, make us one
Rev Luke Williams
Triune God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
You show us the essence of true community, perfect relationship. You call us to be like you, living in selfless, self-giving love toward one another.
As a movement you united us with the richness and resources of three denominations, calling us to live out a vision of reconciliation, discipleship, justice and mission. You made us a family and gave us a purpose.
Yet we confess that we have not lived up to this great calling.
We have trusted in structures more than your Spirit, preserved institution while neglecting the great commission, and guarded our identity more than our calling.
We have strived for unity, but often in our own strength. We have embraced diversity, but often at the expense of embracing you in our midst.
Yet you are gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
Turn us again to yourself. Revive your Church by your Spirit, renew our witness, and restore us to the mission of Christ in the world.
God of selfless love, make us one. Come and correct that which is erroneous in our life, bring us into deeper unity with other Churches, and by the power of your unifying Spirit, use our worship, witness and service so that Jesus may be glorified among us and through us.
Amen.
Rev Luke Williams
