Throughout the month of September, Christians across the world will celebrate the Season of Creation, an annual invitation to pray and reflect on our shared call to care for the earth – our common home and the blessed, beloved creation of God.
The Season of Creation takes place from 1 September (World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation) to 4 October (Feast of St. Francis of Assisi) under the 2025 international theme, ‘Peace with creation’. The symbol, ‘Garden of Peace’, is inspired by Isaiah 32:14-18 and envisions a war-torn, overexploited land transformed into one that is fertile and thriving.
“There is hope for a peaceful Earth,” reads the introduction to the 2025 Season of Creation resource. “Biblically, hope is active – it involves prayer, action, and reconciling with Creation and the Creator through repentance (metanoia) and solidarity.”
“Creation is God’s sacred gift, entrusted to our care. Christians are called to protect and nurture Creation in peace, working in partnership with others and passing this responsibility on to future generations. Its deep interconnectedness makes peace both essential and fragile.”
“Only through reconciliation with and genuine justice for all living beings will creation find peace, fulfilling Isaiah’s vision (32:14-18). May the Spirit be poured upon us so we can work together for peace with creation.”
