2021-2022 Lectionary available for download

The UCA Lectionary leaflet for 2021-2022, which has been available for sale from MediaCom Education for the past couple of months, is now available for free download below. Each year the UCA puts out a leaflet with a listing of the Lectionary readings for the coming Church Year, along with information about relevant books, online resources, podcasts and publications which may be useful for those preaching from the Lectionary.

For the last few years I have been working with MediaCom to edit the Lectionary leaflet, a task intersecting with my involvement with the Transforming Worship Circle. The lectionary enables preachers to exercise a discipline in engaging across the breadth of the Scriptures, rather than falling into the trap of just preaching favourite or favoured passages and topics. For many congregations where a wide roster of preachers take services, the use of the lectionary also brings some consistency from week to week.

There is a wealth of lectionary-based material and sources available online, including several listed on the leaflet. These days I also increasingly turn to great lectionary podcasts. Many will also be familiar with With Love to the World, a helpful lectionary-based devotional publication I regularly use and sometimes contribute to, which now has a convenient app available for Apple or Android devices.
