Easier Access to Assembly Resources

From 5pm (AEST) on Friday, more than 40 years of Uniting Church Assembly resources will be available on an easily searchable online platform.

Five hundred and seventy-eight documents have been uploaded to the illuminate platform, which is found at https://ucaassembly.recollect.net.au/

The resources cover a huge range of Church life – from the UCA Baptism service in 11 community languages to a check list on Preparing for your Funeral and pretty much everything that happens in between in a Uniting Church.

National Consultant Rev Lindsay Cullen worked closely with Assembly Archivist Christine Gordon and Moira Bryant from Camden Theological Library in developing the Assembly’s new platform.

“We knew that lists of documents in links on our website wasn’t a great way to store or find resources. Sometimes you needed to know the names of superceded working groups just to find the document you wanted! In looking at alternative solutions, we were delighted to discover that the Camden Theological Library of the NSW.ACT Synod was actively developing a great solution – “illuminate!” We’ve built on the great work they’ve done and think this is going to bring our document search and storage into the 21st Century.”

As well as worship resources, there are translations of the Basis of Union, justice resources – both recent and historic, statements by previous Assemblies, doc.bytes, copies of the Regulations and much more.

“My hope is that this new platform makes it easier than ever for us make good resources available to people and for members of the Church to access the wonderful resources that are out there. Over the coming months we’ll be working hard to expand the list of documents available including documents in languages other than English.”

Rev Cullen has recorded a video guide on the basics of how to search for resources on the illuminate platform.

Happy searching!
